Austria December 2017

Image result for renault zoe vs bmw i3 austria

Renault Zoe #1

The Austrian plug-in sales were up 43% in 2017 to over 7.000 units, placing the PEV Share at record heights (2.1%).

The good thing about this market is that it is a BEV-heavy market, with all-electric cars representing 75% of sales.

Looking at the models ranking, the three times winner ('13, '14 & '16) Renault Zoe won another Best Seller award, managing to keep the BMW i3 at bay, while the German hot hatch had its third consecutive runner-up spot, both repeating the same places they had in '16.

The same can't be said about the Third Place, where the VW e-Golf benefitted from the new 36kWh battery to climb in the ranking and surpass the Tesla Model S, winning its first Bronze Medal.

The Hyundai Ioniq Electric was the model that most progressed, ending the year in #5, with the 2017 Rookie of the Year being the BMW 530e, that ended in #14.

In the manufacturers ranking, BMW (21%) repeated the 2016 title, winning the race to Renault (19%).

In Third Place, Tesla (12%) managed to win the race to Volkswagen (11%), with the podium positions being exacly the same as in 2016.
